Love your freezer

I’ve so busy with lots of new Zest Bootcamp members (aka “zesties”) over the last few months, as well as planning some exciting things for 2018 including my first retreat, I just realised that I hadn’t blogged here for ages!

If you are following me on Instagram or Facebook then I’m sure you will have seen what we have been up to in Bath 🙂

The Zest Water bottle has travelled far and wide, including a trip to the Grand Canyon  which you can see by clicking  HERE

And not quite as impressive but equally beautiful it went up Glastonbury Tor 🙂

This week one of our lovely members turned 70 so as she is officially our most senior Zestie  she deserved some beautiful flowers.

Angelika is a great role model of how important it is to look after your own health and fitness because no-one is going to do it for you. Also she has such a positive mental attitude that is very admirable and lesson to us all.

So yesterday I was in conversation with a Zest Bootcamp member about her struggles to eat healthily and I recorded this video to share my suggestion to her that hopefully will also help you.

I hope that helps and if you need another reason to start a regular exercise programme then click here to read an article about how it is the ultimate way to not only beat disease but also depression. This is quite relevant given that it was International Mental Health Awareness day this week.

Sleep is a vital part of helping depression and anxiety so incase you missed my blog post please click here for my top tips on how to get better sleep and why it is so vital for different aspects of our health. SLEEP BLOG POST

Have a great day and if you’d like to join us a Zest Bootcamp for a trial week the next one starts October 23rd. Register your interest by completing your name and email here or drop me a message if you have any questions.

I’m hoping that now you have seen Angelika at 70, you won’t think you are too old!

Finally, if you haven’t yet downloaded your f.ree copy of my 10 minute CORE WORKOUT then click here to grab a copy – it really will tone and tighten that midriff!

Until next time

National Detox Month

After all the excess in December, January is the perfect time for National Detox Month and a great start for your New-Year resolutions.

We are all guilty of over-indulging during the party season, it’s a chance to let your hair down and spend time with family and socialising with friends. The only problem is – eating rich foods and drinking more alcohol than you are used to can take its toll on your energy levels as well as your waistline.

Have you got your FREE copy of my 7 day kickstart yet?

Click here to get your free copy of the clean eating plan that is easy to follow and will kickstart your into better habits now the festive season is over. Here is one of the recipes….

Rather than always thinking about what we have to cut out of our diet, I recommend these Top five foods and drinks we should add into our diet this month.

  1. Water should always be at the top of the list to aid digestion
  2. Healthy natural fats like avocado and olive oil
  3. Green Tea which helps boost your liver function & fat burning potential
  4. Lemon – add some to a glass of water to get your day started
  5. Beetroot is full of vitamins B3, B6, C and beta-carotene

One of the first things I tell my 1-1 clients or Zest Bootcamp members to do to improve their health (and performance) is to focus on taking in more water.  As simple as it is we often neglect to rehydrate our bodies – try and continue this into February then March etc. It takes 30 days to form a new habit and this is a great one to add to your toolbox to fight weight gain.

For any of you who would like a  structured programme that tells you exactly what to buy in the shops, what to prepare and how to cook it plus loads more, including the invaluable support of a private Facebook group, then check out my award winning TOTAL BODY SHAPE UP PLAN.

Here is a photo of me in November winning the award for ‘Best Product of the Year” at Maximise2016. The plan has helped numerous women (and some men) just like you who wanted to have an easy to follow “plug in and play” programme that gets results.

The feedback I have had on the programme has been great will most people carrying on the healthy habits long after the 8 week programme is over.

You have the choice this January to either carry on struggling through on your own or deciding to invest less than £1.40 a day in what matters most… your health.

You can read testimonials and access the programme by clicking here

Both the 7 day Kickstart plan and also my Total Body Shape Up Plan are nutrition and lifestyle based programmes that anyone, anywhere in the world can do as there is no exercise involved.

For anyone in Bath who would like to add in some exercise our next trial week at Zest Bootcamp starts on January 30th so why not grab your space. Click here to get that body moving and start 2017 off the best way possible.

Never too late to start a fitness programme

So we did our Special charity bootcamp class yesterday in Bath and raised over £100 for Cancer Research which is great. It was a beautiful crisp morning with a lovely sunrise that seemed to turn into fog later in the day so we were very lucky.

I put together a challenging (but not super tough) bodyweight workout as I knew that after a few weeks off people would find it harder than normal, plus we had a new person join the class.  Most people found it a 9/10 in terms of how hard it was so I guess they may be aching a bit today. The great thing is that they got a little kickstart before we start back at bootcamp properly next week.

It seems most people have had enough of the eating and drinking and not knowing what day of the week it is, and are ready to get back into the routine again.

Zest Bootcamp will be 8 years old in January and I’m proud to say that we have helped hundreds of people over those years to feel healthier and fitter and I’m excited to help even more people in 2017. All ages and abilities are welcome and at one of our classes the average age is 54 so if you are over 50 please don’t be put off thinking that bootcamp is only for the under 40’s, infact my passion is to help more women over 40, and especially 50, feel better by getting into regular exercise and eating well.

Only yesterday I had a call from an ex 1-1 personal training client ( in her 50s) who had tried to carry on her own fitness at the gym for the last 5 years but has noticed she isn’t doing as much as she should and age is catching up with her so I’m going to start working with her again to help her feel great.

So if you have never been to one of our classes and would like to come for a trial then why not book a place at one of our 45 minute classes that run at either 6.30am, 9.30am or 6.15pm in Bath. We are starting on Tuesday 3rd as Monday is a bank holiday then back to our regular Wed and Friday slots. Click here to book your trial week

We have a new person join us yesterday and she was very nervous but afterwards said how much she enjoyed it and thanked us for making her feel so welcome so don’t put it off if you are worried – just do it like Nike tell us to!

Here is a photo of a few of our lovely members of the month in 2016 who achieved different things and all of who are still regular members and continue to achieve results. Even just yesterday one of the girls who had trouble reaching her foot to do a thigh stretch managed it and she was delighted – these small things are actually big things in terms of progress and results.

So as we say goodbye to 2016 I’d just like to thank everyone for their support of Zest Bootcamp whether as members or just helping share the health and fitness message.

I wish you all a very happy, healthy 2017

ps To help people get their healthy eating back on track again I am giving away a free copy of my 7 day kickstart plan so if you’d like to get your copy click here

How to be happy

Apparently Monday 18th is going to be “Blue Monday” as people are often fed up with a whole bunch of things so this is the perfect time to be thankful for everything you do have.

Today I dropped off a big box of goodies that our lovely Zest Bootcamp members (and some personal training clients and even a few of the team at The Bath Weekend Magazine in the Bath Chronicle office) had kindly donated. Mince pies and boxes of chocolates that they really didn’t need and someone living on the street would really appreciate.

As you can imagine, on such a cold day like today the Bath charity Julian House were delighted to receive the goodies.

So instead of moaning about things, especially the cold, be thankful for having a roof over your head.

Start a daily gratitude log in a book or a jar and be thankful for anything you like, even if it  as small as someone letting you go at a busy junction or the free coffee when you fill your stamp card. There’s enough negativity and problems in the world without dwelling on them.

Be Kind

And if you do feel the cold then get that body moving….here are 2 of my favourite exercises that we do at bootcamp – Squat Thrusts and High Knee sprints. This article is in the Weekend Magazine “W” that comes free with The Bath Chronicle out this week and if you do what I suggest in the feature and don’t feel warm afterwards I will eat my lovely new wooly hat!

For anyone who wants to do some exercise with a great bunch of like minded people then why not join our next taster week at Zest Bootcamp that starts on 1st February. Click here to try us out.

Core workout

It might be that your jeans are already feeling a bit tighter after the Christmas festivities or it might be that you know that getting six pack abs for summer starts now.

Core Exercise Workout Booklet

Even if you don’t want a six-pack we should still be thinking about working our core muscles to keep us strong and to avoid back pain, as well as making us look better in our clothes or on the beach.

I’ve chosen a few of my favourite core exercises and put them into a short workout with images and teaching points so you know what to do. You don’t need any equipment as they are bodyweight exercises, and there are variations for different abilities so why not give it a go.

Just fill in your name and email in the box below and I will send it right over to you* and please remember that no matter how many times a week you do these core exercises you won’t get a six-pack if you eat chocolate, pizza and biscuits every day!

ps If you are in Bath and would like to join us at our bootcamp classes and do these core exercises as part of the varied workouts we do at Zest Bootcamp then why not sign up for the next trial week that starts on January 4th. Click here to get booked onto the taster week – 3 sessions for just £10.

*check your junk mail if you have not received the workout within 30 minutes as there may be an email that needs you to confirm we can send it to you 🙂
